David T Posted 14 November , 2006 Share Posted 14 November , 2006 I'm going to the Saint Quentin area, next Easter, along with a group of other WW1 enthusiasts and one thing we'd like to do is visit the vicinity of Manchester Hill. Other threads on the Great War Forum suggest there might not be a lot to see and / or it's a difficult place to identify / find. So, I'm after precise directions as to how to find Manchester Hill together with ideas on where best to view the battlefield from and any other general information on the actions in that vicinity. isanders Posted 14 November , 2006 Share Posted 14 November , 2006 Manchester Hill is just East of St Quentin on the D68. It's worth looking at a copy of hindenberg Line by Peter Oldham. It has a map of the defences and details other sites nearby. Ian
David T Posted 14 November , 2006 Author Share Posted 14 November , 2006 Thanks, Ian for a very quick response. Peter Oldham's book sounds like just the job. David T.
isanders Posted 14 November , 2006 Share Posted 14 November , 2006 David, Have you tried the French Yellow Pages site?? Gives fantastic detailed aerial photos. Make sure you are using the La France Vues Ariennes, on the right hand menu on the french version of the site, it should open a new window. Search for St Quentin, then follow the D68 to the west and Manchester hill is just west of the A26 motorway All the best. Ian

Ian, What a super Website... our Yellow Pages pales into insignificance. This said, I must admit to not yet having located the vicinity of Manchester Hill... a little spare time is needed! Thanks, again. David T.

isanders Posted 14 November , 2006 Share Posted 14 November , 2006 Try this post code 02760 Zoom in and then go south and you'll find the D68, go east and you'll find Manchester Hill. Ian
