terryb95 Posted 3 January , 2003 Share Posted 3 January , 2003 I'm researching my grandfather 20729 Gne P Dean, he served in 7th Siege Bty RGA from when it was formed 3rd Oct 1914. I'm interested to finding out its establishment (Manpower and Equipment) during the war I know it had 6" BLC Guns and was rearmed with 4 X 6" Mk VII Guns. I would appreciate any other information that would be of assistance.
Alan Seymour Posted 3 January , 2003 Share Posted 3 January , 2003 The following information (you may already have?) is taken from ‘Annexe E’ page 355 of the “History of the Royal Regiment of Artillery Western Front 1914-18” by Gen. Sir Martin Farndale, KCB. The 7th and 8th Siege Batteries RGA., were formed from coast defence gunners and were armed with 6-inch guns on mobile mountings. 7th Siege Battery also had a 9.2-inch howitzer – “Mother” – and was sent at first to Antwerp.
