Hi everyone, this is my 1st time on here, so sorry if i sound a bit dumb.

Can anyone out there tell me what battle was going on, on 16 feb 1917, as this is the date i have been given for my great uncle berts death, all it says is killed in action, on that date, in France and Flanders.

Any help would be greatfully received.

he was in the 1st Batt Royal Warwickshire Regiment.

The 1st Battalion were part of 10th Brigade, 4th Division. I do not think the Div were in any specific battle on that date. He was possibly killed whilst they were in the front line trenches. To check though go to www.1914-1918.net - check the 1st Warwicks and the Division. You will get a list of battles and engagements. Other than that you can get the War diaries from National Archives and this will place the battalion for that date.
