Simon R Posted 12 November , 2006 Share Posted 12 November , 2006 No - those are the details of his son (who received GSW to back on 1st July 1916 and died of pneumonia in 1918). His father Sir Arthur Conan Doyle applied for a commission at the outbreak of war but was refused. He subsequently is said to have served in a 'volunteer battalion' in Crowborough as a private. He also served as a medical officer in the Boer War. 'Picture of Conan Doyle in uniform' may in fact show the rather elaborate privately purchased 'uniform' he wore when he toured the Western Front.
