acwalsh Posted 12 November , 2006 Share Posted 12 November , 2006 Found this picture after my grandmother died. It was tucked into a frame behind a photo of my grandfather. It's not him, though. One possibility is that he is one of my grandmother's brothers, surname SAUNDERSON, not sure of first name. He's obviously an officer (Sam Browne, tie etc.) but the picture, which appears to have been isolated from a group with the others blacked out, is not clear enough to get a good look at his cap badge. Can anyone help? Any suggestions would be very welcome! Anne Birmingham
PhilB Posted 12 November , 2006 Share Posted 12 November , 2006 Obviously Lancashire Fusiliers and if that`s the top of his stick, probably higher than lieutenant. Phil B
Rob B Posted 12 November , 2006 Share Posted 12 November , 2006 Hazard a guess at a 1914/15 Star thought possible MC but left hand strip on ribbon way over over to left and lack of definition in ribbon for MC. Definate Lancashire Fusilier and as the Star was issued after 1917 he is likely to be a Captain or Major. Rob
acwalsh Posted 12 November , 2006 Author Share Posted 12 November , 2006 Thanks, Phil and Rob. Still no closer to identifying him, but at least I have a few ideas!
