mick.jw Posted 11 November , 2006 Share Posted 11 November , 2006 Hi All, My mum has given me a compass she found at home. She says that it belonged to my dad and does'nt know where he got it from. She can remember my dad saying it was an officer's compass from WW1. It's about 1.75" in diameter and when it's shut looks like a pocket watch. there's a little button and when pressed it springs open. It's like a nickel colour in places and silver in other. It also has the little arrow pointed upwards stamped on it. There is also the word terrasse and some numbers stamped on it. Does anyone know if it was an officer's compass in WW1 or anything else about it. I'll try and post a photo when I get my camera back off my brother. Regards Mick. mark holden Posted 14 November , 2006 Share Posted 14 November , 2006 Mick, Sounds like the smaller general issue compass rather than the officers prismatic shown above , does it have a flip top lid?(just seen your description again so no need to answer this question) regards Mark Hi All, My mum has given me a compass she found at home.
