A poignant reminder that both sides lost so many. Pawns in a huge game of chess.

We will remember them, from whatever side they fought for.

This is my first Remembrance Day with GWF and I feel so priviledged to be part of this group. This is a beautiful tribute Tafski, so many losses are both sides. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers, Diane

Very nice, Bruce. :)

I've been getting quite maudlin today and yesterday - I think it's the affect of this forum really heightening my awareness. Which is a good thing.

Am at the Cenotaph tomorrow, marching with the Shot at Dawn Campaigners, a moving day one not to forget in a hurry.

Never forget those who fell or those who returned...

I'd like simply like to add.............

"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them".

'Nuff said.

I agree with John........we also remember those who did return, many of those sick and who died subsequently of their wounds and in many cases seem to be "officially" unrecognised. Regards Steve

Nice tribute Bruce

WE WILL REMEMBER THEM ALL.

'They sleep in heroes graves,

Each and every one so brave,

Remember them each day,

For the way we live today'.

The fallen (of all conflicts both military and civillian),

I remember them.

The surviving veterans,

I honour you.

I had the pleasure of talking to one such selling poppies. He was an RN veteran of Atlantic convoys and of the Omaha Beach-head. With quiet dignity he recounted some of his experiences to me.

Let us urge the politicians of all nations in this troubled world to carry out their duty with honour and ethics, considering the claims and problems of opposition, and thus avoid that deadly '...extension of politics by other means...' which demeans both the victims and the perpetrators of such violence.
