Is it allright if I post a handful of pics if Today's Ceremony in this section ?

Not the very best photos, but I don't have an optical zoom, and was not really standing in the optimal postion to take pics. (Such a crowd !)

This one : poppies falling from the vaults

Last one.

Also the younger generation was there...

Jan, an acquaintance of mine took photos for his website www.wo1.be

As soon as his series is on line, I'll post a link to it.

Thanks for the pics, they give a very good impression. Too bad I couldn't be in Ypres myself.

Thanks Aurel. We had a slightly less grand ceremony (!) at the Leatherhead War Memorial but were directly linked to Ypres by the names on our town memorial that are also repeated with pride on the Menin Gate.

As far as I can see it these "Sons of Leatherhead" are "Sons of Ypres" as well.

We will remember them.

Aurel.

Looks like you had a pretty good spot to me!

Thanks for the photos - great for those who could not be there.

It's the scattering of the poppies which brings a lump to my throat.

Marina

I'd agree with that sentiment.

Nice work, Aurel; thanks.

0ne more. Not Menin Gate, but from The Great War Remembered, a musical evocation of the different facets of WW1, in Saint Martin's Cathedral (4.30 pm today), presented by The Last Post Association and Koninklijk Sint-Niklaas Mannenkoor.

Sorry Fred, not an optimal spot to shoot nice pics, no optical zoom either etc... ;)

Last of the Concert : Devon Fire and Rescue Services Band and Pipers

Aurel

(P.S. Playing Scotland the Brave of course. What else ? ;) )
