willy Posted 7 November , 2006 Share Posted 7 November , 2006 Phil, Varlet farm is your best bet for b&b, great chinese opposite the church in ypres, also just to the left of them is a great restaurant, the name escapes me, and of course Hooge for great pate and leffe's. Best channel crossing is calais dunkerque with norfolk line booked through direct ferries, 45 min drive to ypre. have a great trip. willy

PBI Posted 8 November , 2006 Share Posted 8 November , 2006 Cross the Channel to Dunkirk Via Norfolk Line Ferry,Cheap prices, nice clean Ship..No Foot Passengers or Coaches..so you get a nice peaceful Crossing.I always stay at the Hollemeersch, which is a 40 minute drive from Dunkirk. The Hollemeersch is a Nice Family run Hotel on the Slopes of Mont Kemmel,Stunning views of the Battlefields..you are then approx 10 Minutes Drive from the Dikkebus group of Cemeterys, and about the same time to drive to Ypres.I will be visiting this Cemetery on 11.11.2006,if you require any photos please let me know. The Hollemeersch charges Twenty Five Euros a Night for B & B,and there is a very good restaraunt in the Hotel, also there are some other eating places in the Village of Kemmel itself. Liam Posted 10 November , 2006 Share Posted 10 November , 2006 Hi Phil, Plenty of places to stay in Ypres. We usually go for the Ariane which is about £30 pppn including a good continental brekkie. Another good value place to stay is Old Toms in the market place which is about £15 per night ish and is an excellent place to eat. Enjoy the trip Liam
