philrigger Posted 7 November , 2006 Share Posted 7 November , 2006 I am trying to find information about 39444 Pte Frederick Knott Brewer who was KIA on 5 October 1818 in France. What battle was being fought that day etc. He is buried in Anneux Cemetary. He served in the 8th Kings Liverpool Regiment. All help gratefully appreciated. Armoured Farmer Posted 7 November , 2006 Share Posted 7 November , 2006 Hello, It doesn't look like the 8th King's Liverpool were fighting a battle on the 5th October. Two men only are recorded died on that date, Brewer, Killed in Action as you already have and John Sparks, Died of Wounds. Regards Farmer

Ken Lees Posted 8 November , 2006 Share Posted 8 November , 2006 Hi Ken, your surname LEES is interesting I was wondering are you related to the LEES from Leigh in Lancashire. Family Tree wise? John No connections as far as I am aware, but I am only about 10 miles away from Leigh, although my ancestors are from further afield. I haven't been able to access my War Diary for the Liverpool Irish. It's not where I thought it was. Still looking.

John Holmes Posted 22 November , 2006 Share Posted 22 November , 2006 Hi Phil, I think the 8th Liverpool Irish fought with the 2nd/7th King's in an attack on Proville on the western outskirts of Cambrai on the 30th September, 1918. Their next action was, I believe in the Battle of Cambrai on the 8th October with the 57th Division having held around Proville. Hope this gives you something to go on and good luck in your search.
