Retrac Posted 7 November , 2006 Share Posted 7 November , 2006 Looking through some family memorabilia at the weekend I came across what I was told were my Grandfather's shoulder flashes. Two cloth rectangles. Ground of Light blue with a dark blue strip at the bottom; Centred White Shield with red cross with down each side a yellow design which could be either clouds or lightening. I've had a trawl through the Long Long Trail site for Division flashes but have failed to find it (or missed it). Can anyone throw light on what they might represent and signify? Thanks David
BeppoSapone Posted 7 November , 2006 Share Posted 7 November , 2006 Are you sure it's WW1? My first thought was GHQ Far East Land Forces (FARELF) See here: http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...6lr%3D%26sa%3DG
Staffsyeoman Posted 7 November , 2006 Share Posted 7 November , 2006 Yep, I'd definitely agree with that. FARELF, late WW2 and post-war.
Retrac Posted 7 November , 2006 Author Share Posted 7 November , 2006 Looking at the pages I'd agree too. Did GHQ Far East include India? If so it probably belonged to an uncle, if not I need to talk to my father. Thanks for the help David

FARELF is more like Singapore, Malaya, Hong Kong, Borneo, Brunei etc etc.
