ChrisC Posted 6 November , 2006 Share Posted 6 November , 2006 I've posted here as I don't know where else to put this. On Sunday I had a look at a newly discovered bunker near La Petite Douve Farm. Apparently found when a tractor nearly fell in it! I have a couple of photos, which I shall post. The bunker was reckoned to be of 1915 vintage built by the German Army but possibly also used by the British later. I was made very welcome by the guys digging and it was fascinating to see artifacts emerge from the mud after 90 years. Chris C

Mick D Posted 6 November , 2006 Share Posted 6 November , 2006 Chris, Is it to become a site that we can visit or is it to be re-buried?? Mick D
Regulus 1 Posted 6 November , 2006 Share Posted 6 November , 2006 Hi, not a bunker but a German dugout from 1915/1916. You can see a video, in Flemish however on the subject here : http://www.wtv.be/nieuws/streaming_focus.jsp Scroll down to 'bunker' and you'll see the film on the dug-out on top of the page... Better hurry ! Won't be long on line anymore !
Rupert Posted 6 November , 2006 Share Posted 6 November , 2006 Yep! Was there on the weekend. Amazing eh? Local fella, who we met in a restaurant, took us for a look. He had a farm across the road and showed us all the stuff that had been found on the dig. Very well-preserved rifles, grenades, bullets, bottles etc. All going to a museum. When where you there? Three of us were there yesterday morning. Cold and muddy eh?
Aurel Sercu Posted 6 November , 2006 Share Posted 6 November , 2006 This was discussed on the Dutch Great War forum these past days. A link : http://www.forumeerstewereldoorlog.nl/view...p=112293#112293 Sorry, I know that the reading capacities of Dutch / Flemish of a few of you guys are not really perfect, but at least you can look at some pics.
