I am trying to trace 2 French Roman Catholic priests, who are listed on the War Memorial in Tonga, where they were missionaries. - Fathers Benezeth and Doisy. Does anyone know where to find French records? As far as I know, they survived.

You may need to write to the Order to which they belonged: Dominican or Marist or what have you. I think you're most probably after the Marists. You could try the Marists in NZ to ask where you contact for such information?

There is a useful illustrated article 'LES AUMONIERS MILITAIRES EN 1914- - 18, by Bruno Nion in ARMES MILIARIA MAGAZINE No 228, JUILLET 2004.

PUBLISHED IN FRANCE BY 'HISTOIRE & COLLECTIONS'
