IanA Posted 5 November , 2006 Share Posted 5 November , 2006 Just in case you have not seen what is, after all, a post of limited interest which has been going a long time, can I just draw on the accumulated wisdom of the forum to solve a puzzle for me? I have the service papers of a Grenadier Guardsman who was killed at Gonnelieu, 1917. He was a Lance Corporal and it says on his Casualty Form (Army Form B. 103) that he "took up duties of H.R.K. 29.10.17." I have no idea at all what this means and would be grateful for any suggestions. Cheers, Ian
charlesmessenger Posted 5 November , 2006 Share Posted 5 November , 2006 I think it means that he took up duties of higher rank, ie LCpl. Charles M
IanA Posted 5 November , 2006 Author Share Posted 5 November , 2006 I see where you're coming from Charles M and I am not discounting your idea but Harry had been doing the duties of unpaid L/Cpl since 7.2.17. Cheers, Ian
