Hello :)

Looking for information on my maternal grandfather, Martin Brislin,

Royal Warwickshire Regiment 201477

From Aston B'ham

Invalided out after being gassed - shell-shock and trench foot also.

Was in the Battle of the Somme

I will be requesting the Medal Card soon, http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...p;resultcount=1 but I just wondered if anyone had come across any information about him... as mom lost papers about him in house moves in the past.

welcome to the forum

If you can get there, Birmingham library has several newspapers and are excellent for pictures etc of soldiers who served ww1

The only thing I can help you with is that his six figure service number belonged to a block of numbers issued to the 5th Battalion The Royal Warwickshire Regiment in 1917. Thus, he could have served either in the 1/5th or 2/5th Battalions of the Royal Warwicks.

Regards

Terry
