A report appeared in the Holmfirth Express on November 29th 1919, it is the only reference I have found so far to the death of Private George Frederick Heppenstall of Holmfirth.

The local newspaper information is this,- Private G. Heppenstall 60817, 2-1 Yorkshire Hussars, stationed in County Cork, Ireland. Was one of a number who sustained severe injury as a result of an accidental explosion and died within 24 hours.

Does anyone have any further information? Location, date, etc.? It probably happened at the back end of the year. There may well have been more than one death here.

Tony.
