I am trying to find information regarding cross-postings of men from the 12th (Service) Highland Light Infantry to the 10th (Service) Scottish Rifles, probably in Flanders late 1917.

Hello,

This isn't much but both battalions were in the same division at the time. See this page on the parent site here: -

Thanks for reply.

I do have the info you gave, also the Medal Record Card for my father listing the two Regimental No's for both HLI (17745) and SR (39323). I believe the cross posting was after a battle and I was hoping someone may have a relative that made the same switch. The service records are either lost or in the Burnt Records but I am not able to check on that.

It's a pretty definite batch:

Men transferring from HLI to Scottish Rifles with 39*** numbers in SR

Have you tried to track down dates of death for any of these men?

Steve.

Thanks for site. It has given me a lot to explore. I found a Thomas Harvey whose two numbers were within a few digits of my fathers. So many others close. I will try and track some down.

Regards, Shrawley
