Another Mans Great War in a suitcase

Nothing like as impressive or rare as Stevie B's find but here are the effects of LT FE HYDE Notts and Derby and MGC. He started the war as a Member of the The British Red Cross and Order of St John and ended as a Capt in the MGC. In the case are his Commissioning Certificate, some 30 + photos mostly of him in Notts and Derby Uniform and at MGC School in Grantham. A 1916 dated WD Map of Hazebrouck, his MGC Officers plotting tool, his collar badges, a certifiate from the Red Cross and Order of St John recognising his service in the great war, a booklet entitled 'Handy Tips for Subs' plus family photos and a French Lancers wrist worn ID Bracelet. His medal entitlement is 14/15 Star, BWM,VM.

Steve,

19th Reserve Battalion so no overseas service as a Sherwood Forester. He was attached MGC in Sept 1915 and remained there until the end of the war. His 14/15 Star was awarded when he was a Member of the Red Cross.

Of Interest he retained his Notts and Derby Insignia less cap badge throughout his training.

The case is at the Sherwood Forester Museum where they are copying the pics and docs. I'll recover it on the 18th of November and post some pics that weekend. Its a very instructive little book not least because it is packed with period adverts for tailors, wristwatches and other Officer outfitters.
