Whilst at Cannock Chase Commonwealth War Cemetery I came across the below grave:

Name: URELL, ALBERT EDWARD EASTER

Initials: A E E

Nationality: United Kingdom

Rank: Boy

Regiment/Service: Royal Garrison Artillery

Unit Text: No.1 Depot

Age: 16

Date of Death: 16/08/1918

Service No: 101758

Additional information: Son of Henry James Albert and Laura Catharine Elizabeth Urell, of 5, Hoe Gate Place, Plymouth, Devon. Born at Hythe, Kent.

Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead

Grave/Memorial Reference: 4. G. 13.

Cemetery: CANNOCK CHASE WAR CEMETERY

Can anyone shed some light on what No1 Depot was, and where it was based(possibly how Albert ended up in Staffordshire)?

Also that on the 1901 census his father, 37 years, is an "Officers servant School of Musketry"? Henry was born in India and is wife was only 22.

Sotonmate

I too looked up where No.1 Depot was on the Long Long Trail and thought it was at Derby, but as I have requested in my post on Units "128 siege Battery" about its location, this grave seems to imply that it was at Rugeley. I'm getting confused.

Several pages from 'Burnt Documents' on FMP.

Notes from The Duke of York's Royal Military School include details ...."His father, Bandsman Henry J A Urell served in the 7th Hussars".

A Telegram reporting his death - Cannock Chase (Rugeley Camp).
