Steven Broomfield Posted 30 October , 2006 Share Posted 30 October , 2006 There may be another place to post this, but anyway! Tomorrow sees the 92nd anniversary of the first action of the 14th London (London Scottish) when they went against the might of the professional German Army and helped save the day. Sadly, I can't be at RHQ tomorrow for the dinner, but I shall raise a glass (or two) in memory. God bless all those who fell that night; those who survived but fell in later actions (Loos, Gommecourt.....), and all those who have worn the Hodden Grey over the years. If you're ever in London, contact RHQ and arrange a visit to look at a fine museum to a fine regiment. Strike Sure!
andyspiller Posted 30 October , 2006 Share Posted 30 October , 2006 Broomers Thinking about them now. Only 6 days later one of my g-uncles was in F&F, whether he knew that one of his brothers was already dead, or indeed that another brother would be in France by 13th Nov - I will never know! A glass, I think so. We will remember them. Rgds Andy Now, Gommecourt - lets ask BMAC
Steven Broomfield Posted 31 October , 2006 Author Share Posted 31 October , 2006 This painting - in the possession of the regiment - showing the fight around the windmill says it all, really.
