gporta Posted 27 October , 2006 Share Posted 27 October , 2006 The larger peak in the cap, the collar badges, shiny black boots and the well-tailored uniform suggest me a post-WW1 photo. Gloria
stevem49 Posted 27 October , 2006 Share Posted 27 October , 2006 hello ,can anyone on the forum identify this uniform for me please? It could be 1st (King's) Dragoon Guards (cavalry). They changed badges in 1915. It certainly looks like ' The Star of the Order of St Patrick ensigned with a crown'. Can you see if it has KDC in the centre? stevem
squirrel Posted 27 October , 2006 Share Posted 27 October , 2006 The wearing of the lanyard was moved from the left to the right shoulder in the early 1920's.
Staffsyeoman Posted 27 October , 2006 Share Posted 27 October , 2006 Fact that the cap and collars look the same inclines me heavily to post-war (which it would have to be!) mounted Royal Army Service Corps

KONDOA Posted 28 October , 2006 Share Posted 28 October , 2006 Joxk, As Phil has said this man is almost certainly a Private in the post war RASC. He is not in the Scottish Horse or Lovat Scouts . Typical overseas assignments during this period were the Black Sea areas and Turkey. To locate records from this period one should contact the Army Personel Records Office in Glasgow. squirrel Posted 2 November , 2006 Share Posted 2 November , 2006 Wondering about the reinforcings of the riding breeches - they seem very light in colour. I know that in the 20's and 30's the TF (TA?) used to blanco theirs but don't know about the regulars.
