L/9644 L/Cpl James Leigh 1st Battallion East Surrey Regiment

Hi All,

L/9644 L/Cpl James Leigh 1st Battalion East Surrey Regiment died 23-7-16 buried Delville Wood Cemetery. Could anyone please help me out here ?

He has a MIC which I haven't downloaded yet which states L/Cpl and Private and he is on CWGC as Private. I cannot find him under any criteria on SDGW. Is this just an error by SDGW or something else ?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

SDGW is not a complete record. There are many men missing.

Can't help on the SDGW conundrum but with that number he would have enlisted in 1908, probably around April/May.
