Peter Woodger Posted 24 October , 2006 Share Posted 24 October , 2006 Terry In a thread I was reading recently(but can not remember which) you said that at the request of the NOK the CWGC would leave off The captions of Known to be or Believed to be. If a stone is above a burial and says believed to be I can see that it is a small step to remove the believed to be at the request of the NOK but what happens if the stones are on the boundry because the burial site is not known? Maybe these stones are not included. Peter
Terry Denham Posted 24 October , 2006 Share Posted 24 October , 2006 I think you are correct.. This would not apply to those saying 'Believed to be buried in this cemetery' etc which are not above graves - only those Special Memorials on graves. I do not know how often this circumstance arose but it must have been rare.
