AndyMacdonald Posted 27 October , 2006 Share Posted 27 October , 2006 I have a few pages photocopied from the official history of the Auckland Regiment from around that time. Would you like me to scan them for you? Allie I have this war diary at home. Will get mum to send it over snail mail in the next few days. What is it you want to know about 2AIR? I have some knowledge about NZ on the Somme. Also, be wary of the NZ war diaries at Kew as they are in many cases significantly different and smaller in detail than those in NZ itself. Your might say they are PC versions for the Br powers that be. ANdy M
auchonvillerssomme Posted 27 October , 2006 Author Share Posted 27 October , 2006 specifically losses around high wood, longueval area September 1916. there is a big gap in knowledge about colonial regiments/batallions at that time. Aaron Nelson Posted 19 February , 2007 Share Posted 19 February , 2007 Mick, Andy M has written a book about the New Zealanders at the Somme "On my way to the Somme"suggest you get a cpy of this, its very detailed and will certainly "fill the gaps"a far as New Zealands involvement with the Somme battle around September of 1916. regards Aaron.
