John Gilinsky Posted 21 October , 2006 Share Posted 21 October , 2006 Does anyone know of an excellent bibiliography or equivalent of Canadian munition company histories covering all or most of the Great War or focussing in detail on their company's war efforts? I know of one very finely illustrated contemporary account by the Russell Motor Car Company which is in my own colleciton. It dates from early 1918 and focusses just on the company's war efforts in Canada (and to some extent the USA). Of course I know and have David Carnegie's 1925 volume on the history of munitions making in Canada by the Imperial Munitions Board. Thanks everyone! TonyE Posted 21 October , 2006 Share Posted 21 October , 2006 I cannot help with the heavier stuff, but for small arms and ammunition here are a few leads. The Ross Rifle Story by Phillips, Dupuis and Chadwick. Recently re-published byMichael Leonard, ross.rifle.story@sympatico.ca Defending the Dominion, David W. Edgecombe, Service Publications I also have some broad details about the contracts for SAA with Dominion Cartridge Company and Dominion Arsenal.
