Not sure about this one, is the soldier on the left is sporting a wound badge? And also, what is the insignia on his shoulder? Any help to help ID is much appreciated, many thanks in advance, Jon

Jon,

Possibly wrong, but is this not a post war photo? Look at the cut of the jackets and the collar dogs on the RHS soldier.

The square is pretty hard to determine.

hope this helps

To me Norfolk jacket says Australian.

He also has what look like the "Rising Sun" collar badges, as well as a wound stripe.

The rectangle could be a 1st Division colour patch?

Both appear to be Australian, although it is difficult to tell if it is a WW1 or WW2 era photograph.

It is unusual for Australians to be seen wearing long straight leg trousers in WW1, although it did happen. If both jackets have belts with buckles, then it is more likely to be a WW1 image.

Thanks to all for your help, got lots of family photos, just trying to put names to faces. To clarify, the photo is dated on rear, Weymouth, 19th June 1917, and was passed down through the family of my wife. I guess they could have been pals of L/Bdr Mogg, cheers Jon B)
