Hi,

Just thought I would share a good and comforting story from our family.

18 months ago we discovered the resting place of a long lost relative my great uncle Lee.

It was with great honour I was able to visit his grave in June, 88 years after his last visitor from my family my old contemptable grandfather returning from war 1918.

What a wondeful coincidence then when my nephew lastweekend went on a trip to the battlefield with his school, the first stop they made was the graveyard of Lee. where my nephew was able to pay his respects to Lee.

Two generations within 6 months.............and we are still unworthy.

Peace at last Lee....rest well......and remembered.

Nice one Mark.

From my family, I know that no-one had visited my g-uncle for at least 30 years until I went in 2002 (I go once a year now) and have also found out that that he had been alone until the early 60's when one of his brothers (who had fought in the same Bn) found out where he was.

Well done Mark - remembered at last.

In 2003, after having to put it off for a year due to illness, my brother, cousins and myself went to visit our uncle in Belgian Battery Corner cemetery. Apart from it being the first time anybody had visited his grave since the 1920's it was the first time that all the current family had been together.

This led me to "discover" other members of the family who were WW1 casualties, two of whom are buried in France; one at Delville Wood and one at Lapugnoy.

I have managed to visit them all again each year since.

My GGF , William , died after the War due to its effects.

We have traced his grave , at Kensal Green , but he is buried with 9 others.

Roland.
