Tropical hats and riding boots on the right. If we can have a close upon the collars and the flash on the hat that should help narrow the options.

Cheers,

Rob

a Friend has been looking at uniforms for the Military and Has Found a military unit called the Colour Party which are wearing the Same kind of Uniform as Samuel.... under the picture of the 'colour party' it mentions that the people in the Photograph are in the 1st Battalion Manchester Regiment in Kamptee, India.

could this be leading in any kind of the right Direction as to Finding Samuel H Treloars Army Records?

Emma,

He was almost certainly born and brought up in Millom; Bootle is simply the local resgistration district. His family were tin miners that came up from Cornwall in the latter part of the 19th Century to work in the iron ore mines at Hodbarrow.

I'd agree with Grumpy about the picture being post-war: the collar dogs for o.r.s would suggest that, plus the blokes are both somewaht more senior - which would add up for a chap who would be 30-odd.

I've played with the picture to see if close-ups help: they don't. The collar dogs and pugri titles just blur out, tho' the pugri title is a short word - Devon, Dorset, Hants...that sort of thing.

Getting his marriage certificate might give you more information if he had already enlisted. It may state his regiment. The only marriage I can find that possibly fits is:-

Name: Samuel H Treloar

Year of Registration: 1912

Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun

Spouse's Surname: Lowther

District: Barrow IN Furness

County: Cumbria, Lancashire

Volume: 8e

Page: 1913

The spouse's first name was Ada.A.

Emma,

Samuel Henry Treloar was my Grandmother's cousin and I have a little information about him but not his army details. These were given to me by his brothers son.

His father William and my Gt Gt Grandfather Bennet were brothers, they do appear in the Treloar Genealogy website and can be traced back to 1540, but there is no information about them apart from being shown as sons of Thomas Treloar and Mary Roberts.

Let me know if you would like further information
