If a soldier was getting married did he apply for leave and for how long or did he get married on leave if he got any and for how long.. (Hope this makes sense when posted!) eltoro1960 Posted 18 October , 2006 Share Posted 18 October , 2006 I think that the marriage was normally worked around the impending leave, certainly I have seen in the newspapers of the time "Joe Bloggs of ......regiment..married by special licence at Edinburgh Sheriff Court" or by the local minister, my Great Uncle got married in December 1917 and my understanding is that he arranged marriage whilst home on sick leave with bad brochitis, he was a tunneller.
