Just what is the secret when searching for double barrelled names - Im having terrible problems finding this chap - any help apreciated

The convention is, that it's the first part of the name that counts with a hyphenated name. However, with a name like De Clifford or De Colyar, that is split names without a hyphen, it's the last name that matters. As the late Harry Worth said "I don't know why, but there it is"

My De Banke was down as Debanke. They seem to have problems with hypens (don't we all!)

I tried every combination I could think of and - zip, zilch, nothing zero!

a possibility due to the fact that several on the memorial Im researching are sons of vicars will do a bit more delving
