I have a number of Royal Fusiliers in my 25th Bn. Royal Fusiliers database who were transferred to the Essex Regiment. I haven't as yet been able to check the Medal Rolls for these men and was wondering if there are any Essex experts on the forum who can identify which Battalion they were transferred to and when it may have occured.

13395 N. EVANS, to 25854 Serjeant Essex Regiment

12897 Alfred LUKE, to 28473 Private Essex Regiment

13178 A. LEE, to 28602 Lance Corporal Essex Regiment

13640 John J. FLOOD, to 252554 Private Essex Regiment

13280 Sidney GOULDING, to 252571 Private Essex Regiment

14913 Herbert MANNINGTON, to 252607 Private Essex Regiment

13469 James HUNT, to 252620 Private Essex Regiment

12950 George EVANS, to 252623 Private Essex Regiment

13419 Arthur J. LIDDIARD, to 252624 Private Essex Regiment

15121 William Charles WATKINS, to 252626 Private Essex Regiment

15115 Colonel JACKSON, to 252812 Corporal Essex Regiment

Any help gratefully received.

Regards

Steve

The six digit TF numbers are 5th Battalion if that helps.

13395 N. EVANS, to 25854 Serjeant Essex Regiment 2nd Garrison Bn January 1916

12897 Alfred LUKE, to 28473 Private Essex Regiment March 1916

13178 A. LEE, to 28602 Lance Corporal Essex Regiment March 1916

13640 John J. FLOOD, to 252554 Private Essex Regiment 2/5th? Feb 1917?

13280 Sidney GOULDING, to 252571 Private Essex Regiment 2/5th? Feb 1917?

14913 Herbert MANNINGTON, to 252607 Private Essex Regiment 2/5th? Feb 1917?

13469 James HUNT, to 252620 Private Essex Regiment 2/5th? Feb 1917?

12950 George EVANS, to 252623 Private Essex Regiment 2/5th? Feb 1917?

13419 Arthur J. LIDDIARD, to 252624 Private Essex Regiment 2/5th? Feb 1917?

15121 William Charles WATKINS, to 252626 Private Essex Regiment 2/5th? Feb 1917?

15115 Colonel JACKSON, to 252812 Corporal Essex Regiment 2/5th? Feb1917? Possibly later 10th

First 3 dates pretty robust and Evans is 2nd Garrison

The rest are early 1917. The initial battalion was probably 2/5th but a lot of 2/5th men were reposted to front line battalions 252811 was 10th Battalion. The rolls for the 28000 series don't show battalion numbers. The TF rolls all do.

Many thanks guys, I had assumed that those with the six digit numbers were 5th Battalion but wanted confirmation, so that certainly helps.
