Remembered Today:

Zeppelin shot down or crashed in the Costwolds?

A lady has emailed me to ask for help in finding out where an ancestor lived.

The family of the ancestor are said to have "left England after a German Dirigible Airship or Zeppelin was shot down in a field on their 60 acre estate situated in the Cotswolds".

Obviously, if the location of the shooting-down of the Zeppelin can be pinpointed, then that's where the lady's ancestors lived.

I don't know of an airship being shot down in the Cotswolds. Does anyone know different?

The only ones I know of to have been shot down over england were in Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Essex.
