rob@apetts.freeserve.co.uk Posted 10 October , 2006 Share Posted 10 October , 2006 My great uncle whom was killed in action on 4/11/1918 As Thurnscoe is between the above towns I would be very pleased to hear from anyone with knowledge in regards to the local papers of the day that might have reported his death and how I can obtain details, local library source etc. 40463 Private Hubert Bartle Date of Death: 4/11/1918 2nd/4th Duke of Wellingtons He enlisted in Mexborough but lived in Chapel St, Thurnscoe. Killed in Action France & Flanders 4/11/18 20 men and 1 officer from the battalion are recorded as being killed in action on that date. A further 6 men died of wounds on that date.
