Hi all,

I was wondering if any of the pals who have access to the 1901 census could please look up Patrick Crossan on the 1901 census? His death notification in the Dundee People's Journal has him as living at: 4 St David's Lane Dundee.

Patrick Crossan was killed on the 3rd September 1916, with the 4/5th Bn The Black Watch at the Somme.

In advance, Many Thanks

Doris,

Thanks for the effort, but unfortunately the link did not lead to anything except for the 'join ancestry UK' link

Doris,

Not sure as it is spelt different, and is born in Dundee according to the SDGW. His Death Certificate states he was born in Scotland. I was hoping he would be on the census for Scotland:

Thanks so far Doris ;)

This was a barracks of many units. Crossen is in the Connaught Rangers.

Unfortunately I only have access to the England and Wales Census

I have an article about Patrick Crossan in the 'Not Commemorated' Section of the site. If anyone has the Scottish 1901 census, could they please lookup this man?

Many Thanks

Tom: I have bought credits on the Scotland People. There is 15 records for Patrick Crossan. Do you know his date of birth? Will try to send the link for the only one for Dundee. If it doesn't work, p.m. me and I will email you the Census.

Doris,

I don't have his date of birth, but he was 31 years of age when killed on 03 Sep 1916. So birth year 1885-ish.

Doris,

Many thanks for the excerpts from the census. The 17 year old millworker from Dundee looks a likely candidate. I will look a bit further into this next time I am in Dundee.
