THANK'S JOHN

THINK I MAY HAVE SOME OF THIS INFORMATION,BUT I AM SUPPRISED TO SEE RECORDS KEPT AT THE DURHAM COUNTY RECORDS OFFICE.

I HAVE IN THE PAST SENT DOCUMENTS TO DURHAM WHILST TRYING TO FIND ANY RECORDS ON F C PRICKETT, SO THESE COULD BE THE ONES YOU HAVE MENTIONED.

I HAD HOPED THAT WITH F C PRICKET BEING PART OF THE 18TH DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY AND IN COMMAND OF THE 93RD LTMB, HE WOULD HAVE DOCUMENTED HIS TIME IN COMMAND.

I WILL HOWEVER KEEP LOOKING

BEST WISHES

PHIL

Thank's Steve

You have definately given me plenty to be looking at, have just started looking.

I did not realise he had stayed in the army for so long.

If I can find out where he retired to, I might find he wrote a book or published something in his local newspaper.

Once again Steve thanks .

Best wishes

Following Steve's posting on October 9th, I have managed to find out what happened to Cecil Frederick Prickett.

I had been searching for him whilst being in the 18th Durham Light Infantry ( Attached to 93rd Light Trench Morter Battery)

He infact transfered or was posted to the Northumberland Fussiliers.

I later found his obituary,as follows:-

Prickett - Major F.C., OBE, MC - Northumberland Fusilliers -died 3rd December 1934.

Grave at Evangeilical Presbyterian Cemetery, Ho, Volta Region, Ghana.

"Major F.C. Prickett OBE, MC, Assistant Commissioner, Gold Coast Police, late 5th Battalion Northumberland Fusilliers and Gold coast Regiment,RWAFF. killed in a motor accident near Peki on 3rd December 1934, aged 29 years."

Best wishws

I might be too late but Frederick Prickett was my great Uncle. After the 1.W.W. he served in Russia with the British Expeditionary force against the Bolsheviks retreating with General Danekins forces. He then went briefly to Australia (Gold Coast) and eventually joined the police of the Gold Coast (Ghana) as a police commissionare. Died in a road accident 3rd.12.1934 in Ghana and is buried there. While in Russia he was warded the order of ST Teresa. I can find little about this medal any help would be most welcome.
