Pte. Thomas Culley died 1992 Chadderton

Can someone help me to get more info on Pte 40376 Thomas Culley? According to my information he was in the East Lancashire Regiment and was born around 1897 in Oldham. He died in 1992 in Chadderton Lancashire.

Any chance of tracing living relatives? Thomas Culley died at the respectabel age of 94 or 95(!)

according to 1901 census the only Thomas Culley aged 4 was born in Leeds, Yorkshire in the civil parish of Headingley With Burley.

If I know that someone has died after 1984, I usually start by looking up their death - that way you get the exact (if known) date of birth. The only two Thomas Culley's are :-

Thomas Edward Culley born 03/10/1898 died 1895 in Gloucester

Thomas Victor Culley born 20/06/1897 died 1990 in Wiltshire

My reason for looking this up is because in my family research, I have traced where one of the old folk died and ordered their death cert, which tells of next of kin. If a fairly recent death, the next of kin may still be around.

The other way to trace ancestors from someone is to trace the marriages and births forward in time. You may then find a child or grandchild at 192.com or friends/genes reunited/ etc
