Researching soldier gunner moore 2545 enlisted in liverpool 26/10/15.Have army record from 19/3/16 when he disembarked at Havre but no record of service prior to that would he have trained at Woolwich? any help anyone

What have you got the post 9.3.1916 record on-is it an Army Form ?

Is there a unit to go on ? Any initials would be handy too.

yes its a services record shows embarked southampton 19.3.16 disembarked havre 20.3.16 attached 36th ulster division base depot 20.3.16 attached to 7th lancs battery 4th w lancs (how) bde RFA 7.4.16.

I'm taking a look. You say that you want to know about his training before travel to the Western Front. Do you already know where he was when he got there ? I am finding a bit about the 4th West Lancs (Howitzer)Brigade RFA post 7 April 1916 if you don't know about that yet ! This unit changed its title around May 1916,as well as seemingly being part of the 55th West Lancashire Division. Your bit about the 36th Ulster Division says that he was posted to Base Depot when he arrived in France,so this seems to be a draft prior to appointment to a front line battery,maybe that was part of his training too.
