There are at least 4 E A woods listed on the national archives site.

Can you be more specific please ie your man'sarmy number, or the regiment he served with

I have his medal card E A Woods 146 was a Lance Corp 12th East Surrey Regiment. his medal card reads

Medals VICTORY E/1/103 B NEXT ROW LOOKS LIKE AN 8 WITH A LINE THROUGH IT

BRITISH MEDAL JUST HAS DO TWICE

15 STAR READS E/1/4/81 NEXT ROW HAS 9

what do the last figures mean after the name of the medal
