HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 3 October , 2006 Share Posted 3 October , 2006 Try searching the NA online Medal Index Cards.see "Long Long Trail" Link @ head of Forum There are 68 Samuel Mason listed & 9 Sam Mason. {However if he had a second name this can be reduced considerably,as can sifting out Regts you don't consider he could have been in} http://www.documentsonline.pro.gov.uk

Tom A McCluskey Posted 3 October , 2006 Share Posted 3 October , 2006 Do you have anything at all of his service? Such as: Certificate of Discharge/Transfer to Reserve/Demobilization, Medals, photos. Medals have the soldier's number, name, and regiment on the rim. Aye Tom McC

John_Hartley Posted 11 October , 2006 Share Posted 11 October , 2006 Steve If you know where he was living at the time, a way forward would be to check the local newspapers of the time (the very local weekly one will be better than, say, the regional daily or evening). There may well be mention of him being invalided home after losing the leg. John
