post-15511-1159873840.jpgpost-15511-1159873757.jpgI am searching for details of my Grandfather Arthur Wilson Born 2nd March 1902 in Dudley. He Joined the Guards as a boy soldier at age 15/16 , remained in the regiment until 1922. He is said to have rejoined the regiment in WW2 and left at the end rank Major. All this was told to me by my mother , no longer with us, I would appreciate any help or information anyone has. Thank You. I attach a photograph taken in uniform is it possible to identify the regiment from the collar badge or from the button spacing. Thank you

I was told by my mother that he was in the Blues and Greys, now some one is saying he was in the Coldstream Guards. I have another Photo of him next to his horse , He is the tall one on the right?. Can You help

Forgot to say that if he served into the 1920's his records will still be with the MOD. Please see the LLT for details.

He could have been assigned to the Battalion Transport which is where the horse connection would be.

There are 3 Coldstreamer Arthur Wilsons on the medal cards at Kew, given the cavalry story I would say the first is the most likely:

Description Medal card of Wilson, Arthur

Corps Regiment No Rank

Household Battalion 68 Trooper

Coldstream Guards 22754 Private

Date 1914-1920

Catalogue reference WO 372/21

Description Medal card of Wilson, Arthur

Corps Regiment No Rank

Coldstream Guards 9755 Private

Date 1914-1920

Catalogue reference WO 372/21

Description Medal card of Wilson, Arthur C

Corps Regiment No Rank

Coldstream Guards 21801 Private

Date 1914-1920

Catalogue reference WO 372/21

9755 wilson died 1914

21801 died 1918

So only 22754 is left - which is the most likley any way

Seems thats that sorted!

22754 is a later number for the CG - late 15, early 16, hard to say as the later the war ran the less sense numbering made relative to enlistment date
