Desmond7 Posted 2 October , 2006 Share Posted 2 October , 2006 Opening of new MILITARY HISTORY exhibition entitled: SOLDIERS AND CHIEFS, THE IRISH AT WAR AT HOME AND ABROAD SINCE 1550 in a CUSTOM-BUILT NEW WING of the NATIONAL MUSEUM OF IRELAND, COLLINS BARRACKS When: Thursday October 5, 2006 Time: 11.30am – 1.00pm Where: National Museum of Ireland - Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks Entrance: Benburb Street or Arbour Hill Entrance Full Car Parking on Site or take Red LUAS line directly to 'Museum' stop PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES 1. Two Full-size Aerospatiale war planes, various Tanks, Gun carriers, Armoured Cars, Bantry Boat 2. Dr. Patrick Wallace, Director of The National Museum shows certain military artefacts to Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Mr John O’Donoghue, TD after speeches. 3. Various other artefacts in the exhibition including; The first ever awarded Victoria Cross of Ensign Lucas, Sword of one of Napoleon’s soldiers, Christmas cards and chocolate boxes from the trenches of WWI, A child’s gas mask from 1940 and Padraig Pearse Hat and pistol from the 1916 Rising Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
