Percivale Liesching went to France very early in the war. He survived the war and later was knighted and became a top civil servant and then High Commissioner to South Africa.

I would be grateful for any details re-regiment -- Beds?-- and any other information there may be about rank, war record etc

Have you looked for a Medal Index Card?

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...amp;queryType=1

There are only 6 returns searching on his surname and only one with an initial P. No first name given. If it is him then here are the details

Medal card of Liesching, P

Corps Regiment No Rank

Honourable Artillery Company 1428 Private

Tank Corps Lieutenant

Tank Corps Captain

This is probably him also: -

WO 339/35563 LIESCHING P, Lieut 1914-1918

I stress, may be him.
