faramineux Posted 29 September , 2006 Share Posted 29 September , 2006 "These stereo pictures can still be viewed in two small WW1-museums in Flanders, Belgium. Originally they were part of one large collection. The Belgian Schier family who owned the collection separated and the pictures were divided between two brothers. Each of the brothers now exploits his own dusty museum annex café (at Hill 60 and at Hill 62 respectively, southeast of Ypres)." http://www.greatwar.nl/frames/default-picnic.html http://www.greatwar.nl/picnic/pic01.html Courage! Max Poilu Posted 29 September , 2006 Share Posted 29 September , 2006 The museum at Hill 60 has now closed. Jacques's stereo pictures at Hill 62 may one day be unviewable too I fear. The original viewers are very old and were certainly not designed for the volume of use (and some abuse) they receive. Another bank of stereo photographs can be seen at the Notre Dame and La Targette museums in France.

Max Poilu Posted 29 September , 2006 Share Posted 29 September , 2006 Liam, I remember another thread on the closure of Hill 60. The original owner was related to Jacques but I believe they never got on.
CROONAERT Posted 1 January , 2007 Share Posted 1 January , 2007 Another bank of stereo photographs can be seen at the Notre Dame and La Targette museums in France. ...and also at the Douaumont Ossuaire near Verdun and at the museum with the Armistace clearing at Compiegne. I'm sure I've seen others, but can't remember where. Dave
