Guest MargaretC Posted 28 September , 2006 Share Posted 28 September , 2006 Hi My uncle was in the Royal Field Artillery during WW1 and in his service records it states that he had one Blue Chevron. Can anyone tell me what this means Margaret
Owen D Posted 28 September , 2006 Share Posted 28 September , 2006 Shows he'd served overseas . Look at this link, scroll down until and all will be explained. I know it's for the Aussies but same for British. http://www.diggerhistory.info/pages-badges/qualification.htm
Tom A McCluskey Posted 28 September , 2006 Share Posted 28 September , 2006 Margaret, Sounds like a chevron for overseas service. There was one issued for each year of the war. It was worn on the lower right arm and I think came into service in 1918. 1914 - Red 1915 - Blue 1916 - Blue 1917 - Blue 1918 - Blue So between 1915 and 1918 he must have been on overseas service. Somebody will probably post an example of this. Hope this helps Aye Tom McC
