Chris_Baker Posted 30 December , 2002 Share Posted 30 December , 2002 These are the officers of A Section of 129 Field Ambulance 'somewhere in Flanders'. This Ambulance was part of 38th (Welsh) Division. The chap on the left is actually a Warrant Officer, so presumably the Sgt-Major of the Section. The man with hands folded on his cane is the Lieutenant-Colonel, who is OC the Ambulance and A Section. Any assistance with identification would be great. This is not for a major project; just putting some names to faces on a postcard bought for 50p in a junk shop recently.
Paul Reed Posted 31 December , 2002 Share Posted 31 December , 2002 According to my records 129th FA RAMC was raised as No 1 Field Ambulance by Colonel A.Pearson RE as part of the 'Welsh Corps' in 1914. It then became 129 FA on 27th March 1915. It was then commanded by Lieut-Colonel R.J.Simmons RAMC. It arrived in France on 2/12/15. Most of the men in the photo have PH Helmet gas masks, so this dates it around 1916, or winter 16/17.

I have the same image you have, plus another of who were left from this group in 1918 with on the rear the names of the soldiers, which I am happy to e-mail you should you like it.
