Guest Simon Bull Posted 4 November , 2003 Share Posted 4 November , 2003 Can anyone please tell me where, in the area of Ypres, "Pagoda Wood" was? I have seen it referred to in the War Diary of C. Battalion of the Tank Corps as marking a starting point to be used by 8 Company of the Battalion in an attack planned for the 30th August 1917. John_Hartley Posted 5 November , 2003 Share Posted 5 November , 2003 Dave Don't suppose you've got the adjacent map, by any chance? I'm looking for an English Farm which I think is just north of Wieltje (and was the start line for the 1/6th Cheshires on 31/7/17) and a Corner Cot, which should be around St Julien (and was where the Bn's "very advanced" aid post was). Simon Furnell Posted 6 November , 2003 Share Posted 6 November , 2003 Many thanks for posting the map of St Julien,Dave. I have seen a black and white copy in Chris Mcarthy's day by day account. My great grandad was in Canopus trench for a while in September 1917 and there are references to it in his M.G.C War Diary as a meeting point, before they moved further up the line, through St Julien. Off to find my magnifying glass. Cheers Dave. Regards. Simon.
