The 1960s BBC series on the Great War is now available on DVD, a bit pricey perhaps but well worth it.

Agreed. Quite pricey normally £75-£100 but I got mine through a spacial offer in a book club for £50 the boxed set.

I've since bought 'The First World War in Colour'...narrated by Kenneth Branagh...generally good!

but let down by the constant repeating of the same footage.
