A snippet on a page of the Biggleswade Chronicle,of 7th May 1915,kindly forwarded in resposne to a Cambridgeshire Regiment quest;was this:~

Referring to who was apparently @ the time the tallest Officer in the British Army~Captain J.Harrison Horse Guards, from King's Walden, Bury,Hertfordshire.who suceeded another Hertfordshire Officer Major O.Ames 2nd Life Guards.

Unfortunately no heights given, anybody know any more of these two "Giants" B)

Harry

Do I recall a thread somewhere of an Ulster officer who was wounded and captured on the first day of the Somme but was so big that his captors were obliged to remove him from the front in a wheelbarrow?

regards

Mel
