Lieutenant Colonel BERNARD WILLIAM VANN VC, MC and Bar Croix de Guerre

8th Bn. attd. 1st/6th Bn., Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment)

died aged 31on 3 October 1918 and is remembered with honour in BELLICOURT BRITISH CEMETERY

Last night he was remembered again in an excellent talk given by Northamptonshire WFA member Alison Butler at our meeting in Wellingborough. In the meantime, local historian Pat Jenkins has been researching Vann's life with a view to creating some form of commemoration in his hometown of Rushden. Pat's work comes to fruition on October 14th, when a plaque will be placed on Bernard Vann's birthplace in High Street South.
