Duncan Posted 21 August , 2006 Share Posted 21 August , 2006 Could some kind person do a 1901 Census look up for this fellow? Edward B. Hazeldon, Liverpool Regiment - is the name on his Medal Index Card. This is the closest match I could find. Edward Hazeldon aged 14 in 1901; civil parish Chardstock; born Branscombe, Devon Branscombe. I’m trying to find his family, and their address in 1901 and earlier. Also, can anyone suggest why I can’t seem to find him on www.freebmd.org.uk ? Thanks loads, Duncan.

Jim Clay Posted 21 August , 2006 Share Posted 21 August , 2006 Duncan It's possible that the birth registration index hasn't been transcribewd by freeBMD yet. Have you looked at the BMD indexes on Ancestry here? They're free as well. Jim
kevinrowlinson Posted 21 August , 2006 Share Posted 21 August , 2006 I suspect that Edward may have beeen adopted. The most likely William in 1891 was single. Better to look for the marriage for William and Juliana. Kevin
pwtgb Posted 21 August , 2006 Share Posted 21 August , 2006 Suggestion for you. Juliana SELLEY married William Henry Hazelden, Sep 1/4 1891, HONITON, 1891 census shows Julia SELLEY aged 28 born Branscombe, Devon, England, working as a barmaid at the 'Pole Arms' Hotel, Seaton, Devon. Reference RG12/1669/108/8. Also in 1891 census shows Edward SELLEY age 4, born Branscombe, Devon, England, living with a tailor Joseph Henry CAWLEY as a boarder. Reference RG12/1669/149/15. If you want copies of the returns let me have your E Mail address. Regards PAUL
kevinrowlinson Posted 21 August , 2006 Share Posted 21 August , 2006 Given his Regiment one would have thought the Edward Hazelden living at Haydock a more likely candidate. Kevin
